Student-Painted Snow Plows On Display

October 13, 2012, 3:16 PM by David Brown

Student-Painted Snow Plows On Display
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The temperatures may have been in the 70s, but the snow plows were out in force at the Empire Mall.

The shopping hotspot held the Third-Annual Paint the Plows event.  Twenty-seven different plows, each illustrated by students at schools in the Sioux Falls and Brandon area, were on display for the public. For the past two years, the plows were on display at the Sioux Falls Street Department. But this year, the department teamed up with the Empire Mall's Paint The Mall Pink event for breast cancer awareness.

"We enjoy putting this on," Huber said. "I think the kids enjoy putting this on, the parents really enjoy it, and there's a lot of pride with the teachers here too. You're all kind of competing with some of the other schools and the artwork gets better every year," Galynn Huber with the Sioux Falls Street Department said.

While there's no contest between the individual plows, three will be chosen later this year to run during the annual Parade of Lights.
