VP Candidates Meet In Kentucky

October 11, 2012, 10:05 PM by Kelly Bartnick

VP Candidates Meet In Kentucky
DANVILLE, KY -

Pundits and pollsters talked about Thursday’s Vice Presidential debate for well over a week. Some say it was more hyped than the first debate between President Barack Obama and his Republican Challenger Mitt Romney.

The debate focused on more than just the issues at home.

The men started out taking questions on foreign policy, relating to Libya, Iran, China and Afghanistan. It was divided into nine timed segments of about ten minutes each. The moderator asked an opening question, after which each candidate had about two minutes to respond.

But both men got fired up over national issues, of which they spent the majority of the 90 minute debate. Those issues included taxes, defense, spending and Medicare.

“We made the system solvent until 2033. We will not be part of any voucher plan,” Biden said.

“Did they come in and inherit a tough situation?” Ryan asked. “Absolutely, but we're going in the wrong direction. Look at where we are. The economy is barely coming along at 1.3 percent.”

This debate is the second of four, with the other three as Presidential only. The candidates both hit the road Friday, as the polls of who Americans think won will be unveiled.
