Rescheduled Mines Homecoming Events This Week

October 11, 2012, 5:30 AM

RAPID CITY, SD -

Some South Dakota School of Mines and Technology homecoming events rescheduled because of the September death of President Robert Wharton are being held this week.

The coronation of the king and queen will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Surbeck Center ballroom. An outdoor pep rally and bonfire will follow.

The annual picnic and M Hill climb will begin at noon Friday at Founder's Park off Omaha Street.

The M Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday on the School of Mines campus.

Tailgating activities will take place in the stadium parking lot prior to the 2 p.m. football game against Presentation College.

Some 500 freshmen will follow halftime tradition and run around the football field and form a giant M.
