  • Stocks saw modest declines today, a day ahead of the fifth anniversary of the record high closes for the Dow and the S&P 500. Today, the Dow fell nearly 27 points to 13,584. The S&P slipped 5 points, while the Nasdaq composite dropped nearly 24 points.
  • Air pollution regulators in California say they do not expect the state's air quality to worsen significantly now that Governor Jerry Brown has ordered the release of a dirtier blend of gasoline to help slash record-high pump prices. AAA says the average price for a gallon of regular hit $4.668 today in California - the highest in the nation.
  • Alaska Airlines says its computer connections have been restored but not before causing long lines and delays at many of the airports it serves. The problem began this morning when some fiber optic lines were cut to the main reservation system.
  • Dish and Gannett have announced they've reached an agreement covering fees to ensure continuation of carriage of local TV station signals. Without agreement, more than 2 million Dish subscribers in 19 cities risked losing access to local stations owned by Gannett.
  • The plunge of Iran's currency appears to be slowing. The currency today traded unchanged compared to Saturday. It had recently lost as much as nearly 40 percent of its value against the U.S. dollar in a week.
