Storm Center Update- Friday AM

October 5, 2012, 6:45 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

It’s a chilly morning across KELOLAND.  We still have a breeze from the northwest and wind chills have dropped into the upper teens and lower 20s in many areas.  Grab the coat as you head out the door this morning.

Highs yesterday were much colder than the day before.  Most areas topped out in the upper 40s and lower 50s.  We’ll likely see this same range of temperature the next few days.

Our planner today calls for temperatures staying in the 40s in Sioux Falls with partly cloudy skies.  Winds will not be as strong as yesterday from the NW at 15-25 mph.

Futurescan shows areas of rain and snow continuing in far southwestern SD today with minor accumulations up to 2”.  More snow is forecast in eastern WY where winter storm watches have been posted.

The weekend forecast looks chilly with highs staying in the 40s in most areas as high pressure from Canada remains in our area.

As the high moves away on Sunday, look for warmer weather with highs in the 50s and lower 60s.

No rain is in the forecast and the drought monitor continues to get worse.  The exceptional category includes much more of KELOLAND now, the worst condition on the drought monitor.
