State Soccer Tournament: Day 1

State Soccer Tournament: Day 1

The State Boys and Girls Soccer Tournaments kicked off up in Aberdeen on Thursday afternoon. The results will be posted below as they come in:

Girls Semifinal #1: AB Central 6, St. Thomas More 0

In the first semifinal matchup, the Golden Eagles cruised to a six-goal victory over St. Thomas More. Junior Alison Byrd got her team on the board right away in the first half. Junior Paige Sommers added two more goals before the break. She would add another in the second to finish with the hat trick and one assist. Seniors Carly Hegge and Krystyn Bahr also chipped in with a goal each. 

Girls Semifinal #2: O'Gorman 3, Groton 0

In the second semifinal matchup, the Lady Knights took care of Groton by three. Freshman Alyssa Weidler got things started with a goal in the first eight minutes. Junior Nicole Jaeger punched in another goal 16 minutes ahead of the half. O'Gorman would score one more in the second thanks to junior Sydney Carda. Senior Molly Billion assisted on two goals.  

Aberdeen Central and O'Gorman will meet up in the Championship game on Friday at 6 p.m.

Boys Semifinal #1: SF Christian 1, AB Central 0

The first semifinal matchup on the boys side saw top-seeded Sioux Falls Christian eek out a 1-goal victory over Aberdeen Central. Alec Potts accounted for the games only score that came in the second half.

Boys Semifinal #2: O'Gorman 3, Groton 1

Sioux Falls Christian and O'Gorman will meet up in the Championship game on Friday at 8 p.m.
