HARTFORD, SD -
The Hartford Fire Department is putting kids in the passenger's seat of their fire trucks.
For the past few weekends, the fire department's been giving free truck rides to anyone who wants to see what it looks like behind the wheel. And it's been pretty popular. Fire officials say they've had people come out every weekend for a ride.
Along with the ride, it gives firefighters a chance to spread their message.
"We'll use this, in conjunction we'll be going into the school here during fire prevention week, talking more about fire safety, home safety and how the kids can jeep themselves and their families safe,” assistant fire chief Bryon Shumaker said.
If you haven't gotten to ride in the fire truck yet, you have one more chance; the fire department will be giving rides next Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
