Busy SF Intersection To Close For Construction

September 24, 2012, 9:52 PM by Brady Mallory

Busy SF Intersection To Close For Construction
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Drive down almost any Sioux Falls street and you will notice plenty of orange, but not from the fall leaves.

"There's been a tremendous amount of work in the 50-mile radius in Sioux Falls," city engineer Chad Huwe said.

Starting the morning of Wednesday, September 26, workers will close 26th Street and Grange Avenue to replace worn out concrete.  The project is expected to cost $315,000.

"A lot of people use 26th Street to get from the east side of the city to the west side.  It's going to change people's driving patterns for a while," Huwe said.

If you are driving on Grange Avenue, you will be detoured to 22nd Street, Western Avenue and 33rd Street.  If you are on 26th Street, you will be detoured to Western Avenue, 33rd Street and Minnesota Avenue.  The project should be done in early November.

"We could probably attempt to keep it open to traffic, but the duration of the project would probably double," Huwe said.

This will be about it for road work in Sioux Falls' until next year, of course.

"I'm confident people will enjoy it as they're driving on it this winter," Huwe said.
