Two-Hour Standoff Ends In Sioux Falls

A violent night at a local motel led to a standoff in central Sioux Falls.

A man barricaded himself in this apartment building at 10th Street and Menlo Avenue Thursday afternoon.

Police say he beat up his ex-girlfriend at the Rushmore Motel Tuesday and then raped her at the apartment hours later.
He held her at the apartment Wednesday.  She left after he fell asleep and reported the rape.

The standoff ended peacefully without injuries.

This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:
This story was corrected to reflect that the rape did not take place at the Rushmore Motel.
