Man Admits To Shooting Neighbor In Sioux Falls

Man Admits To Shooting Neighbor In Sioux Falls
Peter Mayen | October 2011

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

A Sioux Falls man could face up to life in prison for gunning down his next-door neighbor during a dispute nearly one year ago.

Prosecutors are dropping a charge of first-degree murder against 30-year-old Peter Mayen in exchange for his guilty plea to first-degree manslaughter.

In court on Friday, Mayen admitted to firing five rounds at 51-year-old Bruce Walters, who died on his porch last October.

Police said there had been bad blood between the two men for months.

Prosecutors plan to show surveillance video of the deadly confrontation taken from Walters' home when Mayen is sentenced in November.
