Homes and businesses in an area along 41st Street near Western Avenue in Sioux Falls lost power around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Xcel Energy says more than 6,000 of its customers were without power.  KELOLAND News has reports that the outage also included homes to the north near 12th Street and Marion Road and farther east near 15th Street and Prairie Avenue.

The cause is unknown but KELOLAND News spoke with a Walgreens employee who said the power was back on there by 11:45 p.m.
