Thune Expects Romney To Name VP Next Week

While voters wait for Mitt Romney to pick a running mate, South Dakota Senator John Thune says he isn't expecting a phone call about a possible new job.

Thune spoke to Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce members on Thursday about the national debt and the financial challenges facing the country.

But after the meeting he said he doesn't believe he'll be named as Romney's Vice Presidential pick.

But, he is planning to be a good partner for Romney in the Senate if the former governor is elected in November.

Thune expects an announcement next week.

"It's a very closely held thing. I think the people who know aren't talking and the people who are talking about it don't know, and I think that's pretty much where things stand,” Thune said.

Thune believes Romney is waiting for the Olympics to be over be for he announces a running mate.

The Republican National Convention is about two-and-a half weeks away
