The Minnesota Vikings have a cautious plan for cornerback Antoine Winfield's playing time.
The 35-year-old has dealt with his share of injuries in recent seasons, and the Vikings would rather limit his snaps in both practice and games to make sure he's around the whole time. Coach Leslie Frazier says the team doesn't want to "take all the tread off those tires."
All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen just turned 30. He has balked at any suggestion from the coaching staff that his time on the field be managed. But Winfield has expressed more of an agreement with the concept. He says he realizes his age and wants to do "anything to help this team win."
Winfield has begun his 14th NFL season, his ninth with the Vikings.
