A motorcyclist hit in a crash in Sioux Falls on Wednesday has died.
Police say 33-year-old Philip Sorensen died from his injuries following a serious crash that involved another driver who was speeding and texting.
Authorities say it happened just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and 26th Street.
Witnesses say 21-year-old Brent O'Neal was driving south on Minnesota Avenue at close to 60 miles per hour when he hit another vehicle. O'Neal's 2005 Chrysler 300 then hit several other vehicles and a motorcycle before eventually hitting a light pole.
Police say O'Neal ran from the scene and was later picked up by authorities. He was treated for minor injuries before being taken to jail.
O'Neal faces several charges including four counts of hit and run, reckless driving, careless driving and no insurance.
Sorensen was taken to Avera McKennan hospital after the crash.
A candlelight vigil will be held at the crash site Thursday night at 9:30 p.m.
