Talk has been circulating for months about changes coming to Verizon Wireless' unlimited data plan. But some of that has also been concerns from customers. Now that the new plan is available, Verizon is setting the record straight.
"We are doing a new plan called the 'Share Everything Plan.' The idea behind the plan is that you have unlimited minutes and unlimited text messages among the whole family and then you decide how much data you are going to use," Verizon Wireless Manager Stefan Tonjes said.
It's the idea of having to choose your data that has many people unsure of this new plan.
"We get customers everyday that we are flagging questions for that we talk about their unlimited data package and not wanting to lose it. And we understand that concern, however we find that once we do an analysis of those people they are using very little data at all," Tonjes said.
With the new plan, it actually has the potential to do some good for your wallet.
"Ultimately they could potentially save some money when they go to the new plans and are able to share full data packages with everyone as opposed to everybody having a full plan that they have to pay for," Tonjes said.
And that's not all. It will also allow you to have more devices on your plan.
"Our current family plans have a total of five lines you can add on to it. We like to call them devices now and not phones. The new plans, you can have up to ten devices on them. So you can add six or seven phone lines, add a tablet to it, a jet pack, hot spot to it. So you can really benefit from having all the extra add on devices," Tonjes said.
While these new plans are available for anyone who wants them, it's something Verizon knows many of its customers will take advantage of.
"Customers have been asking for this for a few years now and I think it's a great benefit and a great possibility for our customers," Tonjes said.
The new plan is available now but if you currently have an unlimited plan and don't want to change, Tonjes says you can still keep your plan.
