Two Killed In Tanker Plane Crash

Two Killed In Tanker Plane Crash
EDGEMONT, SD -

Officials still aren't saying just how many crew members died in or survived the C-130 crash in Fall River County.

They do confirm six people were on board, and the crew was from the North Carolina National Guard. Our affiliate in Charlotte, NC, has spoken with family members of two airmen who died on Sunday, along with two survivors.

The family of Lt. Col. Paul Mikeal of Mooresville confirmed they were notified early Monday that he had died in the C-130 crash on Sunday. The 42-year-old married father of two was a veteran of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

As the unit prepared to leave on Monday, Lt. Col. Mikeal told WBTV that he was the pilot for the MAFF 7 C-130 plane.

Master Sgt. Robert Cannon's wife also confirmed to WBTV that he had died in the crash.

Twenty-eight-year-old Josh Marlow was a loadmaster on the c-130 who was injured.  His stepmother says he has broken ribs, bleeding on the brain and has smoke in his lungs.

They say the crew left for South Dakota over the weekend and that they had just returned from overseas and were looking forward to their latest mission. One of the survivors, a father of three, suffered broken bones, a brain bleed and may have suffered smoke inhalation.

Family members are making the trip to South Dakota to support their loved ones who are still in the hospital.
