Vandalism, Crash Lead To Robbery Arrests

Vandalism, Crash Lead To Robbery Arrests
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Three people are in custody in connection with two robberies at separate Sioux Falls convenience stores Monday morning.

The first happened at the Shop 'n Cart at 6th Street and Cleveland Avenue around 5:25 a.m., followed shortly by a robbery at the Gas Stop at 26th Street and Cliff Avenue.

A vandalism report and crash later led police to arrest 20-year-old Carlos J. Janis, Sr; 21-year-old Thomas P. Lucero, Jr. and 21-year-old Robert W. Lewis, all of Sioux Falls.

Janis and Lucero are each accused of robbing one of the stores while Lewis is accused of driving the vehicle.  Police are still trying to determine which suspect was responsible for which robbery as only one person walked into each store.

KELOLAND's Austin Hoffman is gathering the details to bring you a full report later today.
