AIM Founders Taking Part In Rally For Lakota Man

RAPID CITY, SD -

American Indian Movement founders Dennis Banks and Clyde Bellecourt are expected to take part in a rally and march Monday in Rapid City for a man who claims he was mistreated at a local hospital.

The Vern Traversie Justice Rally and March is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Traversie, who is blind, alleges he was mutilated while undergoing surgery. His allegation is based on the description of his surgical scars others have provided to him. Rapid City police said they investigated Traversie's claim and did not find enough evidence to pursue charges.

Other AIM members also are expected to attend the march.

Cody Hall says Traversie asked him to organize the rally because Traversie is concerned for others' treatment.
