Thune's Thoughts On Budget Debate
WASHINGTON -

The United States Senate is preparing to debate over the 2013 budget. And one KELOLAND senator says he feels the president needs to be more involved.

Senator John Thune says the budget is something the Senate should have been talking about a long time ago.
       
But in addition to that, Thune says President Barack Obama should be doing more than just telling them what to do. 

"What we would like to see the president do is actually engage in a discussion about how to create jobs. Rather than going around the country and giving Congress a to-do list, maybe start by actually them having a to-do list which would start with passing a budget," Thune said.

Many of the subjects that will be addressed in this debate are ones Thune believes the Senate should have been talking about long before now.

"I think it's a reminder to the American people that what Congress should be working on this week, should have been working on a long time ago, for that matter, is a budget, spending, debt, jobs and the economy; getting people in this country back to work," Thune said

Thune expects the Senate will vote on the budget in the coming days.
