Sioux Falls Murder Victim Was Also Homeless

May 4, 2012, 11:03 AM

Sioux Falls Murder Victim Was Also Homeless
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Police say the victim in a Sioux Falls murder was a homeless acquaintance of the two homeless men suspected in his death.

Forty-five-year-old Robert Thunderhawk was beat to death with a shovel Thursday night in a wooded area in northeast Sioux Falls.

Forty-three-year-old Eugene Martin is charged with first degree murder.  Fifty-two-year-old Clint Cottonwood is charged with simple assault.

Police received a call about a body around 6:45 p.m. Thursday and searched a wooded area near East 1st Street and Blauvelt Avenue for several hours.  That's where they found Thunderhawk's body, which is an area neighbors say is frequented by homeless people.

Stay with KELOLAND News for new details on the case as they come in.
