Missouri River Rec Areas In SD Continue Rebounding

April 16, 2012, 9:01 AM

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Recreation areas on the Missouri River in South Dakota continue to rebound after last year's flooding.

The Lewis and Clark Marina near Yankton didn't suffer any damage from the high water last summer but it did see a drop-off in anglers and boaters. Spokeswoman Julie Hughes says boat rentals were down. Crews are getting the docks ready for what they hope will be a more normal year.

Upstream, Campground No. 1 at the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area is now open to the public. The state Game, Fish and Parks Department says power was restored to the campground Friday, after repairs to flood-damaged electrical equipment. Campgrounds No. 2 and No. 3 will remain closed to camping until electrical work wraps up in those areas.
