Mitchell and Sioux Falls Taco John's are donating money to the family of nine-year-old Bella Morgan.
The sign outside the Mitchell Taco John's says it all. After more than a week of giving back, the community continues finding ways to help the crash victim's family. She was hit by a suspected drunk driver while out with a friend and her mother.
"We feel the need to give back to our community. And that community is Mitchell, it's Sioux City, it's all our neighbors," Ted Miller with Taco John's said.
Wednesday, April 4, from 5 until 8 p.m. part of the store's sales are going to the Morgan family.
"This family needs it during this time, and anything we can do to help out would be great," Miller said.
But it's not just the Mitchell location. Miller is also donating the profits from the Empire Mall Taco John's too. He says the gesture is a response to customer demand during a dark family time.
"We heard from our customers. Our customers in Sioux Falls said, 'What can we do to help?' It opened the door in Sioux Falls, and let us help our neighbor. So that's what we did," Miller said.
The stores hope people pile in. They're making it easy for customers. Order anything from potato oles to tacos and even burritos, and half the store's sales will be donated to the Morgan family.
"It's uncharted waters. Something we've never done before," Miller said. "So the more, the merrier."
Just as a reminder, the only participating Sioux Falls location is the Empire Mall Taco John's. Miller says that's because the food court has plenty of seating to accommodate families and large groups.
