Stampede Get Blasted By Fargo

It was another Friday night nightmare for the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Sioux Falls Arena as the Herd were blasted by the Fargo Force, 8-0. Fargo scored three goals in the first, three in the second and two in the third to blank the Stampede in front 3,564 fans. The Stampede (16-33-6) were blanked for the 10th time this season and fell to 2-19-2 in Friday night games this season. Zane Gothberg earned the shutout in goal with 30 saves for the Force who improved to 30-20-5 on the season. Dave Gust led the way offensively with two goals while Bryn Chyzyk tallied a goal and an assist for the Force who picked up their fourth win of the season over the Herd.

The Force were in control of the game for the get go as they scored just 2:54 into the game when Dave Gust wristed a shot past Stampede netminder Jay Williams. Bryn Chyzyk made it 2-0 at 5:05 when he toe dragged the puck inside the right circle and wristed a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net. Colton Hargrove made it 3-0 at 13:15 when he scored off a pass from Chyzyk. Fargo scored three goals on their first five shots of the game and outshot the Herd 7-6 in the first.

It was more of the same in the second as the Force took a 4-0 lead just 2:19 into the period on Gust’s second goal of the game. Six minutes later Stanislav Dzakhov wristed a shot from the right circle through the five hole of Williams for a powerplay goal to make it 5-0. Alex Iafallo made it 6-0 later in the period when he scored on a 2-on-1 break that saw Gabe Guertler feed the puck to Iafallo to the left of Williams and Iafallo tipped it in to the back of the net.

The Force got goals from Austin Farley and Justin Wade in the third to cap of the scoring and give the Force the win. The Stampede outshot the Force 30-27 while going 0 for 4 on the powerplay, Fargo was 2 for 6.

Sioux Falls returns to action Saturday night when they host the Tri-City Storm at 7:05 PM.
