Mark Jarecki of Columbus (Neb.) Lakeview was named MVP of the Class B boys, while Carly Carper of Oldham-Ramona-Rutland and Leah Seivert of Sibley-Ocheyedan were named co-MVPs for the Class B girls at the 2012 Dan Lennon Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D. More than 1,300 athletes from four different states competed at the annual meet.
Jarecki won two individual events, setting a record in one, and anchored two winning relays at the meet. He set a new Class B meet record with a winning time of 7.05 in the 60-meter dash, and added a win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.88. He also anchored Lakeview’s 4x400 relay which was victorious at 3:41.09, and was the anchor of the 4x200 relay which won with a time of 1:38.15.
Carper, the 2010 Dan Lennon Class B MVP, won her fifth consecutive 60-meter title with a time of 8.07. She also anchored O-R-R’s record-setting 4x200 relay which was victorious at 1:50.16, breaking the previous record set by Sioux Falls Christian (1:51.83) in 2011.
Seivert, the 2011 Dan Lennon Class B MVP, captured the 1,600 with a time of 5:28.87 and added a win in the 3,200 with a time of 11:29.42 to complete a sweep in the distance events.
Jared Schoelerman of Clay Central Everly set a new Class B meet record in winning the boys 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.50.
