Noem Might Have Another Challenger In GOP Primary

March 6, 2012, 9:00 AM

SPEARFISH, SD -

A former Black Hills newspaper journalist and Vietnam veteran is circulating petitions to run for the U.S. House.

Sixty-three-year-old Bill Cissell of Sturgis needs to gather 1,955 signatures by March 27 to get his name on South Dakota's Republican primary ballot. Cissell says he's "sick of the attitude in Washington" and wants to oppose incumbent Republican Rep. Kristi Noem.

Forty-six-year-old Rapid City businesswoman Stephanie Strong also is seeking to oppose Noem in the Republican primary.

A spokeswoman for Noem has said she's done what she promised to do when she was elected in 2010.
