WATERTOWN, SD -
From Sioux Falls to Pierre to Aberdeen, the winter storm has closed schools, portions of two major South Dakota interstates and caused numerous crashes.
While Interstate 90 is still closed, Interstate 29 is open from Watertown to Fargo, North Dakota.
A parking lot full of semi trucks emptied into lines to get onto I-29 as soon as officials announced the road would be opened.
While it's open now, drivers are still urged to be careful because it's full of wet, icy snow and is ice-packed.
Our KELOLAND News crews traveled at about 40 miles per hour to get to the Watertown exit and saw cars in the ditch along the way.
Truck drivers we spoke with say they'd rather be pulled off the road and wait for roads to improve because it could cost them more money if they got stuck in the ditch.
