A fiery story on Capitol Hill involving South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson.
The Washington Post is reporting Johnson is one of 16 senators who is accused of using political clout to send millions of taxpayer dollars to groups connected to their relatives.
The Post examined all 535 members of the House and Senate, comparing their financial disclosure statements with thousands of public records.
The Post reports in 2008 Johnson, who is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, helped direct $4 million to the Starbase program.
At the time, Johnson's wife, Barbara, was paid an annual salary of $80,000 to evaluate it. She was also assigned to manage its web site.
In the report, a Johnson spokesperson said the senator played no role in his wife's employment and had no contact with Pentagon Starbase officials.
But several government watchdog groups are saying not so fast, calling the budgetary items earmarks.
