No Agreement For Walgreens, Express Scripts
SIOUX FALLS, SD - Thousands of people are looking for a new pharmacy. Those under the Sanford Health Plan will no longer be covered at Walgreens on the first of the year.

Sanford Health Plan uses Express Scripts to manage its prescription-drug benefit program. Express and Walgreens haven't been able to reach an agreement on a new contract, so Walgreens has announced it will stop participating as a provider.

That means starting on the first of the year, those under insurance plans using Express Scripts, like the Sanford Health Plan, will not be covered at Walgreens.

Walgreens is the only pharmacy open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, in Sioux Falls.

Sanford has sent letters out to those under the plan. They say more than 98 percent of members have access to another participating pharmacy within one mile; more than 99 percent have access within three miles of their house.

To transfer your prescription, you can do one of three things. First, you can take your prescription bottle to your new pharmacy; they will contact your old pharmacy to transfer your prescription. Second, you can call your new pharmacy and ask them to contact your old pharmacy. Or third, ask your doctor to call your new pharmacy with your prescription information.
