Mayor Updates Events Center Progress

SIOUX FALLS, SD -
While ground on the $115 million Events Center won't be broken for a while, there is still plenty of work being done behind the scenes.
Monday afternoon, Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether updated the city council and public on the progress. It was the first of 33 projected updates, which are scheduled to be monthly in front of the council.
Huether outlined an Events Center plan that includes everyone from community development, who will help sell naming rights, to planning and zoning, which has already received a building plan for the $115 million building at the Arena and Convention Center site.
"I know that there was a concern that some folks even had within this body that there wouldn't be demand, but there is. Right now, we're trying to evaluate how do we, how do we work through that demand on all of them. And we'll provide you more updates in the months to come," Huether said.
Huether says the bond sale approved by voters is on schedule. The city is working to get the best bond rating, but the sale is expected to happen next month.
