SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Voters overwhelmingly approved a $115 million Events Center in Sioux Falls in November. Now, the city will start offering updates on the construction progress.
Mayor Mike Huether will share the latest developments with the city council every month during the council's 4 p.m. informational meeting. It's similar to what the city did before the public voted on the plan, only now, the updates will include details on construction of the Events Center. The city plans to give these updates every month until the doors to the new facility open.
Huether will give the first of 33 planned updates Monday afternoon. The city will share information about the contractors are working on the project and update the timeline for the project to ensure that it opens when it is supposed to.
Groundbreaking is scheduled in August 2012 and the Events Center is supposed to open in the fall of 2014.
