SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Mission accomplished. South Dakota's final Honor Flight took off from the Sioux Falls Airport Friday morning with more than 100 World War II Veterans onboard.
Once they land in Washington, D.C., the first of the two-day trip will include visits to the Air Force Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
The trip is free to WWII veterans who have applied to the South Dakota program. It began with 10 scheduled flights but because of interest and demand in the state, the program added two encore flights, one in April and Friday's flight.
KELOLAND News also has a news crew on board and will bring you full coverage of the tour of Washington DC all next week on KELOLAND news.
