School District Proceeds With Stadium Makeover

SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Remodeling work at Howard Wood Field will account for more than half of the $11 million to be spent by the Sioux Falls School District on building projects this year.
The district-owned stadium complex hosts football games, track meets and marching band competitions. It will get a new running track, press box and grandstand in a $6.9 million upgrade.
The project had been slated for 2008 but was put on hold while officials discussed and then abandoned the idea of building a city events center on the site.
The other major projects in the district's spending plan will create more space for specialized elementary and high school programs.
