PIERRE, SD -
Total enrollment at South Dakota's six public universities climbed nearly 8 percent this fall.
The 36,440 students mark the 13th straight year of record-high enrollment in the system.
Board of Regents Executive Director and CEO Jack Warner says it's all about being responsive to the work force needs of this state. He says the state has positioned itself to be more responsive by phasing out programs with low enrollment and investing the resources in new and continuing programs.
The number of full-time equivalent students-based on total credit hours generated by all students within the system-increased by 1,157 students, or around 4.5 percent.
