Wolves Reported In Walworth County
February 15, 2007, 10:14 AM
Wildlife officials are investigating a report of a small pack of wolves in north central South Dakota.
A rancher reported seeing four of the animals near his livestock in Walworth County.
Don McCrea is a regional supervisor with the Game, Fish and Parks Department. He says wolves were in South Dakota before it was a state and they still are found in the state occasionally.
McCrea says anyone spotting the pack should not shoot the animals because wolves are a protected species.
