February 22, 2008, 12:29 PM
Authorities say the woman charged in a fatal school bus crash in southwestern Minnesota is in the country illegally and using an alias.
The woman identified herself as 23-year-old Alianiss Nunez Morales of Minneota. She told authorities she was from Mexico.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are trying to figure out the woman's true identity. The agency has filed paperwork to detain her for deportation proceedings after the criminal case is resolved.
Lyon County Attorney Richard Maes says the woman was driving a van that failed to stop at a stop sign Tuesday before hitting a bus carrying 28 students from Lakeview School in Cottonwood. Four students died in the crash.
The woman is charged with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide. She's also charged with a stop sign violation and for driving without a valid license.
