Bus Crash Brings Emergency Crews Together

While nine victims are still in the hospital Wednesday following Tuesday's deadly bus crash near Cottonwood, Minnesota, authorities say it took the help of many more to respond to this accident.
When a school bus carrying 28 students is involved in a three-car crash, there can be many victims. And it takes the help of many hands to help those victims in an emergency.
Lyon County Sheriff Joel Dahl says, "That's part of being Minnesota nice, we had just a response that you can't even understand because as I've said there were people there that I'm still finding out from agencies responding that we never even requested to come and help."
The Lyon County Sheriff says he was ovewhelmed by how many agencies came to help pick up the pieces from this complicated crash near the close-knit community of Cottonwood.
Dahl says, "And as of last night even out at the scene I saw people and patches that I didn't even know were there."
And it's that kind of help and response from the surrounding communities that helped lend a hand to a town and a school now dealing with this deadly accident.
Lt. Mark Peterson of the Minnesota State Patrol says, "If we can take something good out of something as bad as this it's the way that the community has handled the situation, the way they responded to the situation, and will continue too."
The Minnesota State Patrol is going to continue questioning students and everyone else involved in the crash to figure out exactly what happened. When their investigation is complete, the Lyon County Attorney's office will decide whether to file any charges.
