CFB: Augie Holds First Practice In New Stadium

The new home of the Augustana football program is going green. The new Field Turf at Kirkeby-Over Stadium passed its inspection on Friday, meaning the field is now playable.
Brad Salem and the Vikings gladly took advatage of that this afternoon, holding their first official practice in the $11-million facility.
"I think its a great day for our football program," Salem says. "You've been driving by, our players have been looking every single day at what they've done...if a brick has been laid, putting the turf down. We knew it would get done at some point this spring, so we're just excited to be out here today on the field."
While he admits days like today make football a little more fun, Salem says it's also a reality check.
"All of the sudden, wow we're going to play a game in here next fall. So its a nice advantage to get in here the last couple practices of spring ball, for a scrimmage today and then our spring game next weekend," Salem said.
