Augie Announces Plans For New Tennis Facility

Since 2006 Augustana has poured more than $16-million into various updgrades of its athletic facilities. And they're not done yet.
Augie has announced plans to build a new 37-thousand square foot tennis facility on campus. The Huether Tennis Centre is the brain-child of Mike and Cindy Huether of SIoux Falls, who've also provided the lead gift toward the project's estimated $300-thousand price tag.
Mike says, "We're passionate about the sport, passionate about the people and we thought that this would be a great way to give back to both."
Ahtletic Director Bill Gross says the project is a continuation of the commitment Augustana has made to NCAA Division II athletics.
"They're going to be a real gem to the community, but for our athletic program, it adds so many things in terms of being able to recruit good student athletes. And our goal is to have excellent programs in all of our sports."
Current plans call for work on the new Huether Tennis Centre to begin this spring. Augie says they hope to be competing on the new courts by the start of the fall season.
