CTF: Huber Receives Award From SDCCTFCA

South Dakota women’s track and field coach Lucky Huber has been named the 2012 South Dakota Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association (SDCCTFCA) College Coach of the Year. The award was given out as part of the South Dakota High School Coaches Association Clinic Wednesday in Aberdeen, S.D.

Huber, who is entering his 19th season as the Coyote women’s track coach in 2012-13, received the honor after three Coyote women’s athletes earned All-American honors at the NCAA National Championships in June. Sophomore Bethany Buell (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman Emily Grove (Pontiac, Ill.) were each first-team All-American in the pole vault, while junior Alexa Duling (Gregory, S.D.) earned second-team All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles. All three Coyotes competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June.

The Coyote women qualified eight athletes for the first round of the NCAA Championships, most since moving to Division I. The women also finished second at both the Summit League Indoor and Outdoor Championships in their first year in the league.  Buell was name the Summit League Field Athlete of the Year while Duling was named the Summit League Track Athlete of the year. Freshman Analisa Huschle was also named the Summit League Newcomer of the Championships at both the indoor and outdoor conference meets.
