Storm One Win From Perfection

July 13, 2012, 11:00 PM by Jim Madalinsky

Storm One Win From Perfection
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

If familiarity breeds contempt, expect a heated battle at the Sioux Falls Arena Saturday night as the Storm host Tri-Cities with an IFL Championship on the line.

"Both sides knew that these were the best two teams and this was the ideal setting and the ideal matchup to play each other again in the championship," Storm HC Kurtiss Riggs said.

The Storm and Fever have been the top two teams all year long, but the rivalry has been pretty one-sided.
Sioux Falls has won the last 3 meetings between the two squads, but the Fever have shown the ability to hang around, taking the Storm to overtime in their last meeting.

"Every time we play them they come alittle harder, hit alittle harder. They're getting to know us a bit. It reminds me of our battles with Sioux Falls when I was in Billings. You can see the same things going on. They keep getting better everytime and I think this is going to be one for the ages," Storm QB Chris Dixon said.

In order to live up to that hype Fever Head Coach Adam Schackleford knows his team can't afford to give away possessions.

"They smell blood in the water and if you make a mistake against Sioux Falls its going to results in points and typically immediate points," Fever Head Coach Adam Shackleford said.

And with the Storm just one win away from an unbeaten season, Quarterback Chris Dixon is ready to cross perfection off his football bucket list.

"I told Coach Riggs one day 'I'm jealous of you, you've been undefeated in this league before and I haven't' so with that in mind, that was the number one goal all year. Win at all cost," Dixon said.
