With tourist season upon us, vendors are well aware more business could be heading their way.
"We have chicken strips, turkey legs, roasted corn, gizzards, and cheese curds. If you want it, we got it," Boss's Chicken and Pizza employee Brook Begeman said.
The Sioux Falls Ringneck softball tournament is a local merchants dream
"Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, of course South Dakota, then we got North Dakota and have Canadian teams that come down," Event Coordinator Cheryl Morgan said as she described the geographic variety of the teams.
Move than 130 teams from different age groups are participating this weekend. When they're not playing, the town of Sioux Falls is ready to step in and entertain.
"When we have the teams in the ten [years-old], they bring families. They will search out the motels, the pools for something fun to do. Then there are the 16 to 18 [year-olds], they want to do a little shopping maybe go downtown and catch a nice restaurant," Morgan said.
Instead of waiting for the guests to come to them, many places bring their business to the tournament.
"We are handing out coupons down at the stands, trying to get people.Hopefully some teams will order pizza later tonight, just get our name out their to boost sales like that," Begeman said.
"It's nice to have something here on the complex so the spectators and teams can look at eating here especially depending upon their playing," Morgan said.
Regardless of whether they're spending at the tournament or in town, local businesses are stepping up their game.
