A high-speed chase led to a drunk driving arrest early Friday morning in Sioux Falls.
Officers tried to stop 31-year-old Hiruy Habtemariam when he didn't stop for a flashing red light at 26th Street and Phillips Avenue around 2 a.m. Friday.
When he didn't pull over, police followed until the suspect was going too fast northbound along Main Avenue. Habtemariam tried to turn at 18th Street but hit a tree at the intersection. He and a passenger tried to get away on foot but police caught up with Habtemariam.
He has minor injuries and is charged with DWI, felony eluding, fleeing police, open container and a red light violation.
Police weren't able to find the passenger.
