Crews Make Progress On Black Hills Wildfires
White Draw Fire

All those firefighters working in the Black Hills are making a big difference.

The Highlands fire near Custer is now 100 percent contained.

To the south, near Hot Springs, the Parker Peak fire is now 100 percent contained after it burned through nearly 800 acres. About 60 fire personnel remain at the fire to carry out mop up activities and to protect several buildings in the area.

Meanwhile the general public is being asked to stay away from the White Draw Fire near Edgemont. It has now scorched 7,800 acres and is 60 percent contained.

Firefighters there are also battling hazardous steep terrain and are trying to keep flames away from several dozen buildings.
