Publisher Sues Sturgis Bar In Contract Dispute

June 25, 2012, 12:08 PM

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The publisher of Easyriders magazine has filed a breach-of-contract suit against the owner of a Sturgis saloon, saying it stopped using the Easyriders mark in violation of vendor and licensing agreements.

Paisano Publications is suing Fargo, N.D.-based KSLB&D in Los Angeles County Superior Court for more than $2 million.

The suit alleges that owners of Easyriders Saloon & Steakhouse sent notice at the end of May to terminate the vendor agreement, saying Paisano had breached the contract by failing to sell sufficient vendor space ahead of the 2012 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Paisano says owners covered up the Easyriders logos and acted as their own sales agent for vendor space.

A person who answered the phone at the bar referred calls to owner Scott Upton, who did not immediately respond.
