Police have released more information about an overnight hit and run on Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls where a pedestrian was injured.
They say witnesses saw the car that hit the man who was crossing the Minnesota Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets around 1:30 Wednesday morning. It's described as a mid-70s, four-door model that is either yellow or tan.
The victim is a 32-year-old man who had been drinking. Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says he was not in a crosswalk when he was in the street.
"Pedestrians have the right of way inside the crosswalk. If you are crossing in the middle of the block you have to yield to cars. We see that throughout the day; occasionally we have people who are hit by cars, essentially because they are crossing where they shouldn't be crossing," Clemens said.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Clemens says the vague description of the car makes the likelihood of finding it more difficult. If you see it, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 367-7007 or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers online.
