Storm Damages Ranch Near Dupree

June 10, 2012, 3:59 AM by Perry Groten

Storm Damages Ranch Near Dupree
DUPREE, SD -

It's going to be a day of cleanup for people in the Dupree area of north-central South Dakota following severe weather overnight.

Saturday night's storm destroyed a barn and heavily damaged another, along with a machine shed at Rick Farlee's ranch 15 miles southeast of Dupree.

Farlee says the storm struck so quickly, he and his wife didn't have time to run to the basement.  No one was hurt, but the roof of Farlee's home was slightly damaged.  The storm left the Farlees without electricity.

People attending a high school rodeo in Dupree had to wait-out the storm inside their campers on the rodeo grounds.  The storm hit after the day's events ended.  The rodeo is set to resume on Sunday.
