South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says businesses should beware of scams from companies selling various federal agency posters dealing with labor laws.
Jackley says such companies often use scare tactics about potential fines and penalties. He says the solicitations have an official-looking seal to create the impression that the advertisement is actually from a government agency. Jackley says the companies use notices to mislead businesses into thinking a government agency is contacting them and threatening a fine if they don't buy the posters.
The attorney general says the labor-law posters that businesses are required to display can be obtained from the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation at no cost.
