Officials Work On Events Center Naming Rights

Officials Work On Events Center Naming Rights
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Sioux Falls city officials say the title sponsor for the new events center will be announced by the time they break ground on the $115 million facility.

That was the news the city council learned Monday afternoon during the monthly events center update.

One of the big components of paying for this new multi-million dollar events center is the naming rights.  Members of Mayor Mike Huether's administration say they are working to interview four professional sales firms to sell beverage rights and suite sponsorships inside the building.  But they are also talking with companies that are interested in putting their name on the outside of the building and being the main sponsor for the new events center.

"Our goal has been and continues to be to have a title sponsor selected and approved by this city council in time for the groundbreaking in August," Director of Community Development Darrin Smith said.

City officials told the council that the project is still on track for an August groundbreaking and that 100 percent of the design work on the new entertainment facility will be complete by May.

The city is also working to have a management company selected by August.  Proposals for those companies are due by Thursday and then the city will start the review process.
