Great Bear Staying Open Longer With New Snow

SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The fresh snow that fell on Sioux Falls earlier this week is giving Great Bear Recreation Park the boost it needs to stay open later this season.
Sunday's strong winds may have discouraged some customers, but park management says Thursday's fresh powder reminded people conditions are still good this winter. And they hope that Tuesday's weather will give them the boost they need to stay open longer than scheduled.
“It absolutely helps us stay open longer. We originally planned on closing March 4. We've extended that to march 11 already and if we can get an extra week on this type of season, that's great,” Great Bear General Manager Dan Grider said.
Despite the unusually warm winter, the park says they would be open 94 days this season when they reach March 11th.

Authorities said a 16-year-old student fired a gun at the school Wednesday morning. Law enforcement said the injury was a flesh wound.

Authorities did not identify the victim, but described him as a 16 year old from Minnehaha County.

The teenager found dead on Interstate 90 has been identified as an O'Gorman High School student.

At 10:45 p.m. Thursday, deputies found a body at Interstate 90 and North Kiwanis Avenue, near the Interstate 29 interchange.
