Police Look For Armed Robbery Suspect

September 20, 2011, 4:44 PM by Kelly Bartnick

Police Look For Armed Robbery Suspect
SIOUX FALLS, SD - Police are searching for an armed robber who held up a central Sioux Falls bar and casino at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

It happened just before 1:30 p.m. at Ken's Korner near 6th Street and North Menlo Avenue. The crime led to an extensive neighborhood search.

Police were in the neighborhood for nearly three hours. Authorities focused their search on the garage behind a yellow house. That's where the store clerk saw the man run between the houses before he disappeared.

Police set a perimeter around the neighborhood and called in K9 officers. They say the dog led them to that back shed. Authorities surrounded it and eventually broke in. The suspect was not inside.

Police are still investigating the robbery and looking at surveillance video.

The suspect is described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, 6’1” to 6’3” tall and heavy-set with a full dark brown beard that had a hint of red in it.  The man was wearing a plain black-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
